Scratch board illustration of city buildings under a moon and stars

1975

A friend in Chicago got me an interview at another not-for-profit, but this one was on the 20th floor of the Hancock building that anchors the city's Magnificent Mile.

I moved into an apartment on the far north side of the city: this is the view from my window. Well, I added a few of the lights.

This scratchboard was printed by my friends in the mailroom/print shop.

Inside: rejoice/with heart and soul and voice

I loved my apartment, but at Christmas I realized that it was all neutral colors. So I made some very colorful decorations that I still bring out every Christmas.

Since every Christmas card incuded a lyric from a Christmas song, I researched carols and sought inspiration as I toodled on my clarinet.

Inside: As with gladness men of old...

Cockroaches drove me out of my old building, and into a more modern building overlooking Lake Shore Drive. If I stood in the right spot I could see Lake Michigan.
