Blue Moon
You saw me standing alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
Blue Moon
You knew just what I was there for
You heard me saying a prayer for
Someone I really could care for
And then there suddenly appeared
before me
The only one my arms will ever hold
I heard somebody whisper, "Please adore me."
And when I looked,
the moon had turned to gold, oh
Blue Moon
Now I'm no longer alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
…a little honky tonk, a little fun.
And how about a blue moon cocktail?
There are quite a few options online. The oldest is from 1917, in Hugo Ensslin’s Recipes for Mixed Drinks:
1½ oz gin
½ oz French (dry) vermouth
dash orange bitters
dash (or two) Creme Yvette or Creme de Violette
stir with ice until cold and strain into a chilled cocktail glass
top with a splash of claret
(a red bordeaux or similar full-bodied red wine)
Blue Moon Martini
¾ oz blue curacao
1½ oz gin
Manmosa
one part orange juice to
two parts Blue Moon beer
Blue Moon Cosmo Martini
1 oz lime juice
1½ oz orange infused vodka
1 oz blue curacao
1 oz white cranberry juice
sugar (optional)
Cocktail Blue Moon
6 oz champagne
½ oz gin
½ oz blue curacao
The Blue Moon Cocktail
2 oz dry gin
½ oz Creme Yvette or
Creme de Violette
½ oz
lemon juice
1 egg white (optional)
I think perhaps my Secret Admirer will give me some blue curacao this year.
Maybe if he's feeling generous, some Creme de Violette, too.
Of course, there are many more moon songs.
A few that come to mind:
