Before modern times, being in this overwhelming building must have been beyond anything we can exerience. It seems to still be a robust spiritual center. I think my favorite parts were the chambers and hallways under the nave, and the small discoveries we made. As to those black spots: there were many. Lichen? Soot? The necropolis behind the kirk has beautiful views of the cathedral. More about that anon. |
