North Sea

North Sea scene with rochy foreground It seems that Hitler had plans for submarine attacks on an important anchorage in the North Sea. First Churchill tried sinking some ships to block the way, but one sub slipped through. So Churchill set out to make barriers out of rock and concrete. Much of the labor was done by Italian POWs. They were told that they were just constructing causeways because they couldn't be forced to work on war structures. And now the barriers are causeways: we went by one on Orkney Mainland Island.
