The Ring of Brodgar Stone Circle and Henge is a neolithic (aka new stone age) monument on Mainland Island in the Orkney archipelago.

It originally had 60 stones. Now there are 36, as well as at least 13 prehistoric burial mounds and a rock-cut ditch surrounding the stone circle.

I think we were told that a new age "ley line" intersects Stonehenge and the RIng of Brodgar. Or maybe it was Clava Cairns. Or all three?

No one knows what these sites were used for, but they were probably cermonial.

They certainly inspired quiet and contemplation in us.
